About the founder

Munib R. Masri is the founder of the Engineering and Development Group (Edgo); a multidisciplinary, multinational network of companies working in the fields of contracting, industrial development, trading, distribution and representation, project development, operation and maintenance and project financing.

Mr. Masri founded the Munib and Angela Masri Foundation (MAF) in 1970. For more than 40 years, the MDF has provided hundreds of grants to local NGOs and individuals in need. Since 2000, the MDF expanded its scope to include substantive support to Palestinian universities and hospitals as well as to institutions that support Palestinian communities in the region and throughout the world.

Today, Mr. Masri serves on the board of a number of large corporations, banks and investment houses in the Middle East and Europe, includingPADICO, a holding company whose subsidiaries invest in infrastructure and industry in Palestine. He served on the World Bank’s Council of Advisersfor the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region, and is an elected member of the Palestinian Legislative Council.  He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University of Beirut.

Mr. Masri was born in Nablus. He and his wife of 50 years, Angela, both graduated from the University of Texas with degrees in Petroleum Geology. Mr. Masri also received a Masters Degree in Geology and Government from Sul Ross University. Today, Mr. and Mrs. Masri are actively involved in the governance and program activities of the MDF, with the support of their family of six children and 17 grandchildren.
